The New York City Native Who's Preppy At Heart

15-year-old Patsy Daum grew up in New York City and recently traded Manhattan for greener pastures—aka boarding school. Both places have clearly influenced her style, which is a little classic and seriously cool. "I’m a preppy at heart," she says. "I like a good navy cable knit sweater and I always enjoy a sensible loafer." She's all about buying basics (can we reclaim that word yet?) over cheap thrills. "I ask myself if the thing I’m considering purchasing is going to be something I’m going to wear in the next five years, or if it will eventually become clutter in my closet," she says. You can totally steal that; we are. Ahead, the items she's deemed worthy, including the jeans that have her feeling like she "can conquer the world."

J. Crew 8” White Toothpick Jean

"I truly believe that you cannot go wrong with white denim because it is a classic wardrobe staple that is extremely versatile. White jeans are a blank canvas that you can easily style in any way you please. What I like about this particular pair is that they fit me really well. I also love how the material feels. They're kosher for my school’s dress code, so I'm frequently seen wearing them with a colorful blouse or a flowy top. When I wear them, I feel like I can conquer the world."

Longchamp Le Pliage Small Tote Bag in Navy

"These bags are pragmatic yet still manage to be stylish. It's made of nylon so it's pretty durable; I've owned mine for three years. It's perfect for when I'm traveling. I can fit everything I need—my water bottle, my laptop, and the many snacks I will bring on a plane flight. The one I have is navy, which is the most prevalent color in my wardrobe. Not only do I think navy is absolutely chic, but it also suits my pale complexion. This bag is basic in the most complimentary way. In the immortal words of Taylor Swift, it will “never go out of style."

Veja V-12 B-Mesh White Violet Granny

"The reason I think these sneakers are super cool is that they are eco-friendly. Their fabric is made out of recycled plastic bottles and all of their materials are made sustainably. I’m a huge fan of a green and pink combo and as soon as I saw these shoes, it was love at first sight. I wear them during the school day because they are great shoes for moving from class to class comfortably without having to sacrifice the appearance of my footwear."

BUY: $125 at Farfetch

FYI: "I am traditionally a size 9.5 but Vejas do not have half sizes so I sized down."

Lululemon Speed Up Short Long 4” in True Navy

"These shorts have become my gateway drug to my Lululemon addiction, so to speak. As one of the many things in my closet that are navy, these shorts are part of my go-to outfit for kickboxing. I am obsessed with the lightweight fabric and the way the shorts fit. I also love the back pocket, as it is perfect for storing my keys and money when I go on a run. I was formerly skeptical about all the hype surrounding Lululemon but now, I have seen the light. Btw, I'm 5’9 so I chose the 4” shorts, but I recommend getting the 2” version if you're on the shorter side."

BUY: $58 at Lululemon

FYI: "These shorts also run small because I am normally a 2 but I had to get a 4 for these shorts so I recommend consulting the size guide."

L’Oreal Paris Hair Care EverPure Blonde Sulfate-Free Shampoo and Conditioner

"My journey with this shampoo and conditioner began when I was watching an episode of Queer Eye and Jonathan Van Ness began preaching about the dangers of using a shampoo that contains sulfates. When the episode concluded, I quickly dashed to the nearest drug store and purchased this set of shampoo and conditioner and things have never been the same. My hair has become drastically less dry since going sulfate-free and it's softer and shinier as well. I have highlights in my hair, and I noticed that since using these products, the color has stayed vibrant longer. I also can appreciate the drug store price point because I'm not willing to spend $60 dollars on hair care when I can easily achieve healthy tresses without breaking the bank. Another bonus is that they are cruelty free so you can lather rinse repeat without a guilty conscience."

GoMacro Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars

"Words cannot truly capture my love for these bars. They are vegan, so no animals were harmed in the process of making them. They also have real nutritional value, because the ingredients are organic and the bar contains protein so you feel like you are doing your body a favor by having one. They help satiate my hunger when whatever they are serving in the dining hall isn't what I enjoy eating. I also think they're so delicious. Having experimented with the various flavors of the bar that are available, I can safely say that this one reigns supreme. They are a lifesaver when I need to focus on schoolwork and not what I am going to eat. They are truly *Chef’s Kiss*."

BUY: $35 for 15 bars at Amazon
